I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I TiVo CBS' 60 Minutes every Sunday.
I don't know why I do it. I guess because I'm something of an "intellectual," and I just love gathering more and more information. Even if it is from Manhattan-based communists.
Maybe you're the same way.
Anywho, Sunday, they did a story on "Stat Man." His name is Bill James, and he reinvented baseball statistics and the way they're used.
He redefined which stats REALLY count, and his way of analyzing statistics has allowed baseball teams such as the Oakland A's and the Boston Red Sox to "dis'" expensive players with "popular" CONVENTIONAL stats, in favor of lower-cost players that do well in the stat categories that HE says are important.
For instance, he doesn't track RBIs, and he says that batting order doesn't matter. ...and LOTS of other
controversial stuff.

Why does "Stat Man" matter to your mortgage bidness?
Because...just the other day, I had a coaching Member of mine tell me that a mailing "disappointed" them.
When we did the math, we found-out that the mailing had actually multiplied their money by 5-times!
That is, if you mailed $5K worth of that mailing, you'd get back $25K!
A tidy $20,000.00 profit!
Sure, those numbers "frustrate" me too, 'cuz we normally do much better, but hey, a $20,000.00 profit is a $20,000.00 profit!
And don't get hung-up on the $5K "cost," 'cuz that "cost" simply doesn't matter! The $20,000.00 PROFIT does!
Track the right stats!
